Asha Bhosle is een van de bekendste vertolkers van Bollywoodmuziek. Haar eerste grote succes waren de duetten, zoals Maang ke saath tumhara, die ze zong met Mohammed Rafi. In haar langlopende carrière, die in 1943 begon, nam ze een recordaantal platen op en is een repertoire ontstaan van meer dan 12.000 nummers. Ze heeft soundtracks gezongen in meer dan 950 Bollywood films
